Queen of the Night

Choose another paintingA black panther on a night hunt. A black panther's coat is not actually entirely black: depending on the light, spots show on different parts of this graceful predator's body, because it is a leopard with melanism. It is this feature that makes these wild animals so remarkable. In the painting, light strokes of oil pick out the spots on the panther's front paws. Realism makes it possible to render the fearlessness and fierce grace of the panther on canvas as precisely as possible.
